New blood for UX book club Sydney

It is with great reluctance I let you know that I am going to pass over the mantle of UX bookclub. 

I have been coming to UX book club Sydney for over seven years and running it for six. It has been a great innings and I have loved every minute of it. The people, the ideas and the books have all been incredibly enriching. The UX community in Sydney is amazing :) This December we will read our 48th book! So much UX book goodness.

Having fun and getting to know each other is a big part of UX book club :)

This is a great opportunity for a new person or group of people to take the baton and run bookclub. If you have been coming along for a while and have some great ideas on how to run the meetup now is your time! You might like to keep it running like it has been or you might like to work with regulars to create something totally new! I have already had some gentle expressions of interest, so know that you would not be in it alone :)

Hells yeah we deserve a high five for yet another ux book read. James and Romi :)

There are many, many UX groups that have sprung up since the Book Club first started, the design landscape is much more mature and rich. I look forward to seeing how the new organisers might update, change, review, evolve and iterate on the current format. So much potential!

We celebrated our fifth birthday by bringing in our fave UX book.

I'm not going to lie - it is a LOT of work :) But it is totally worth it :) So if you have been coming to the meetup for a while and you would love to run it, please get in contact with me direct.

An oldie but a goodie.

I would love to say a huge thanks to all my UX book club co-organisers over the years, Ivy Hornibrook, Justin Tauber, Matty Schreck, Suze Ingram, and founder Steve Baty. You rocked it!

December's meetup will be my last. Please come along to help me say goodbye. We are reading Liminal Thinking by Dave Grey.

My highlights have all been about people. The people I have co-organised with and the people who have come along the meetups, and of course the authors who occasionally joined us in the room or via skype like Donna Spencer, Eric Reis, Alex Wright and Tom Greever.

But of course the books are such an important part of the meetup. It is definitely worth checking out the massive list of books we have read.

I am really looking forward to seeing the next generation UX club :)
